Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing
that you have received - only what you have given: a full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and
courage.

Jagg

We took Jagg into our home when he was 5 years old. As he had never lived in a house before, he really seemed to appreciate the comforts as well as that of a true family. We lost him on 5/20/10 at the age of 12. There is no putting into words how much he will be missed and the emptiness that he left behind. However, there is comfort in knowing that we made a positive difference in the life of such a loyal friend.

Kiki

Kiki was almost the perfect dog. Being we were her 4th home in her first
2 1/2 years, she fit in great in our house, with no issues whatsoever, becoming my male's best friend. After Harley passed Kiki was my shoulder to lean on. Kiki became a mother/big sister to my newest pup, helping us teach him how to become a member of our house. Since Kiki has passed, Panzer has not been the same dog, as he misses her company so much. Kiki, we love & miss you so much. Until we meet again.

Roscoe

In honor of my best friend who I lost yesterday (Jan 30, 2010) at the age of 12. His name was Roscoe and I'd had him
since he was 10 weeks old. He was one of the true loves of my life and my best friend. I am struggling to imagine what
life will be like without him, but know he is in a better place. “We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even
more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the
necessary plan." Irving Townsend

Casanova

I found Cas walking Rt.9 in Fishkill, NY back in Oct 2001. It was a month after 9/11 and the week of my birthday.
He was about 1 1/2 years old. He had no tags or chip, just a choker chain that was starting to rust. I tried to
find his owner but to no avail. Cas was MY first dog and although growing up my family had lots of dogs, we'd never
owned a Rottweiler. No matter, he was the most well behaved and great temperament dog I'd ever met. We joined NERR&R
shortly after and volunteered for about 3 years. Cas was a wonderful Ambassadog at Pet Supplies Plus and Petco in Dutchess
County. In September of 2008 he was diagnosed with bone cancer in his left rear leg. He was given 3 months to live.
This did not stop him. He went on for 14 more months. During that extra year I had with him I made sure it was a good one.
I took him to Canine Club Getaway, a vacation for dogs where he did lure coursing, met 47 other dogs, got Therpay Dog
International certified and visited an assisted living home 3 times. I am so thankful for the extra year I got with him
before masses in his internal organs took him away from me on 2/8/10. He would have been 10 in April. He will be forever
missed and forever Mommy's Good Boy!

Kobe (NERR #1379) ~ 2002-2010

Our Kobe (formerly Toby) passed away on 1-25-2010 after his short battle with intestinal lymphoma. Kobe came to us
at a time in our lives when we were still getting over the loss of two elderly dogs and preparing for the passing of
another. He was fearful, shy and sometimes extremely bold but from the start very loyal. He posed many challenges to
us as a family and there were many times we thought maybe the placement wasn’t right. However, as time passed Kobe’s
ways grew on us and for me, as his mother, I am recalling many of them now, a little too late. Having been busy with
kids and other pets Kobe sometimes had to wait. He did this always patiently and never, ever passed the opportunity to
try to give us kisses and put his head between our legs as if to say, “Here I am, is it my turn now?” Words cannot express
how his loving eyes will forever be etched in my memory as will his smell and the very presence of him that made us as his
family always feels safe. The things we can take for granted as parents to Rottweilers are now the very things I miss so
dearly and know that I was so right when I adopted Kobe and said “Rotties are my favorite dogs.” I have had MANY dogs but
none that have taught me such valuable life lessons as Kobe did. He was the most forgiving, gentle dog I have ever owned.
In his last few weeks he was happy and so full of energy until the last day when he let us know he was done. He wouldn’t allow
himself to suffer having been a true rescue dog and we are grateful he had the courage to let us know. As he passed I said
the same words to him I have always said to my children when they were young and hurting. “Momma’s here.” I will never leave him.
Rest in Peace

Rio (NERR # 551)

Rio Moon or "Rio" when she was adopted in November 1999 was a sweet, wonderful rottie who loved to work,
loved to sun, and loved to eat. She came into my life, filling it with joy. She was with me when I married
and didn't seem to mind the other pooches that joined our household. I will miss how she would push her way
between my legs and pop her head up for a treat. On August 3, 2008, she slipped away from me, peacefully passing
in her sleep. We all miss her very much and my heart is broken with grief. Sleep well, Moon Girl!
Love, Kristine

Chili NERR&R #1327 - August 2004

Special thanks to the following sponsors of Chili's Memorial:
The Siegel Family: Steve, Patti, Lokie, Chisel and Molly (NERR&R #1328)
Deborah Hall
Chili was suffering from more than heartworm disease,
a growth was found in her abdomen. Since Chili was a
very sick dog, NERR&R decided that it was in her best
interest to end her suffering in a humane manner, rather
than have her go through treatment for more than one
life threatening illness with an unfavorable outcome.
Chili found her way to the Rainbow Bridge in the hands
of her foster mom who made her last days special and
full of TLC.
